[SYNOPSIS]
'혹시 어디론가 멀리, 훌쩍 떠나고 싶었던 적 없나요?'
여기 그것을 상상만으로 끝내지 않고, 직접 실천으로 옮긴 두 사람이 있다.
익숙하고 편리한 도시에서의 삶을 청산(淸算)하고 낯선 청산(靑山)에서의 삶을 시작한 도원과 명철.
버스에서 여섯 시간, 또 거기서 배를 한 시간 타고 들어가야 비로소 모습을 드러내는 청산도,
60대도 청년 대우받는 그곳에서 30대 부부의 등장은 놀라운 일이었다.
어딜 가나 명철과 도원의 젊음이 돋보인다.
도원은 지역아동센터 사회복지사로 일하고 명철은 지역 교회 카페에서 봉사하며
어색하지만 조금씩 섬에서의 그들의 보금자리를 꾸려나간다.
느림이 미학이라는 슬로시티 청산에서 참 바쁘게도 살아가는 도원과 명철
새로운 일들이 끊이지가 않고... 그들에게 섬은 과연 꿈꾸던 공간이 되었을까?
감독인 나는 카메라를 들고 두 사람을 따라 섬으로 향한다.

'고속버스를 탈 때면, 늘 창문 커튼을 찍었다. 어디론가 출발했다는 뜻 같아서'
도원과 명철의 결혼식 날. '청산행'을 발표하는 그들의 모습을 보며 나는 호기심을 느낀다.
그들은 섬으로 도망가는 걸까 아니면 도전하러가는 걸까?
어느 쪽이 되었든 결정하고 몸으로 행동하는 모습에 대단한 용기가 느껴진다.
몇 년 전 '도망가자'라는 제목의 노래가 젊은 세대들에게 커다란 인기와 많은 공감을 얻었다.
또 '헬-조선'을 외치며 그에 대한 대응으로 '탈-조선', 한국을 떠나는 것을 제시한다.
왜 이렇게 청년들은 이곳(현실)을 떠나 저기(어디론가)로 도망가고 싶어 하는 걸까?
그리고 정말로 떠나는 청년들은 얼마나 될까.
떠나기 위해서는 원래 살고 있던 곳으로부터 벗어나 새로운 장소로 이동하는 구체적인 실천이 일어나야 하고
그러한 의미에서 청년들의 서사 속 '이동'의 의미는 매우 중요하다는 생각이 들었다.
기존에 익숙했던 장소를 떠나 새로운 공간으로 삶의 터전을 옮긴다는 것은 굉장히 큰 결정일 테니 말이다.
상상이나 결심을 넘어 구체적인 이동의 실천까지 해내는 청년들의 이야기가 궁금하다.

[SYNOPSIS]
"Have you ever wanted to just leave everything behind and take off to a faraway place?"
Here are two people who didn't just imagine it but actually made it happen.
Do-won and Myung-chul left behind their familiar and convenient city life to start anew in an unfamiliar place—Cheongsan(靑山).
Cheongsan Island reveals itself only after a six-hour bus ride from Seoul, followed by another hour-long ferry journey.
In a place where even those in their sixties are considered young,
the arrival of a couple in their thirties was nothing short of astonishing.
Whenever they go, their youth stands out.
Do-won works as a social worker at a local children's center,
while Myung-chul volunteers at a church café.
Though they are still adjusting, little by little, they are building a home for themselves on the island.
In Cheongsan, a designated "Slow City" where slowness is considered an art,
Do-won and Myung-chul lead surprisingly busy lives.
New challenges keep coming their way—
But has the island truly become the dreamlike place they had envisioned?
As the director, I pick up my camera and follow them on their journey to the island.

"Whenever I took an express bus, I used to take pictures of the window curtains.
It felt like a symbol of departure."
On the day of Do-won and Myung-chul's wedding, they announced their plan to move to Cheongsan.
Watching them, I felt a deep curiosity—
Were they running away, or were they taking on a challenge?
Either way, there was undeniable courage in their decision and the fact that they were putting it into action.
A few years ago, a song titled "Let's Run Away" resonated deeply with young people, gaining immense popularity.
At the same time, the term "Hell Joseon" became widespread,
with "Escape Joseon" emerging as a response—suggesting that leaving Korea altogether was the solution.
Why do so many young people dream of leaving here (reality) for somewhere else?
And among them, how many actually follow through?
To truly leave, one must take concrete action—breaking away from familiar surroundings and physically relocating to a new place.
In this sense, the concept of movement holds profound significance in the narratives of young people.
Leaving behind a well-known environment to establish life in an unfamiliar space is no small decision.
Beyond mere imagination or resolution, I am intrigued by the stories of young people who take tangible steps toward a new life.
