[SYNOPSIS]
자신과는 아무런 상관이 없는 존재를 돌본다는 것은 어떤 의미일까? 반려동물과는 달리 사람에게 곁을 주지 않는 야생동물을 돌보기 위해 희생을 감내하며 시골의 산골짜기에서 젊은 날을 보내는 것은 어떻게 설명할 수 있을까? 〈단지, 우리가 잠시 머무는 곳〉은 태어나서 지금껏 1평 남짓의 철창 안에서 살고 있는 사육 곰에 관한 이야기이자 그곳에서 일하는 네 여성에 관한 이야기이다.

<단지, 우리가 잠시 머무는 곳>은 사육곰 생츄어리를 만들고 운영해 가는 사람들의 이야기를 담았다. 강원도 화천의 한 농장에서 삶의 터전을 일구는 네 명의 젊은 여성 활동가들의 일상을 조명함으로써, 환경 및 동물 복지라는 거시적 담론 이면에 자리한 개개인의 헌신과 고뇌를 보여주고 싶었다.

[SYNOPSIS]
What does it mean to care for a being that has nothing to do with you?
How can we explain spending one’s youth in a rural mountain valley, enduring hardship to care for wild animals that, unlike pets, will never grow close to humans?
Where We Stay for a While is a story about bile bears, raised in a steel cage barely 3.3 square meters in size since birth, and of the four women who work there.
[DIRECTORS' NOTE]
This project follows the journey of those who are building and running a sanctuary for bile bears. By focusing on the daily lives of four young female activists who have made a farm in Hwacheon their home, I hoped to reveal the personal dedication and struggles that lie beneath the broader discourse about environmental and animal welfare.
