[SYNOPSIS]
빼앗긴 들에도 봄이 올까요
함께 있어 더욱 아름다웠던 대추리의 봄
2006년 5월 4일 정부는 대추리에 공권력을 투입해 대추초등학교를 무너뜨리고 볍씨가 뿌려진 논에 철조망을 쳤다. 미군기지 확장 공사를 위해서였다. 평생을 소중하게 가꿔온 '자식 같은' 논밭이 바싹바싹 말라갈 때, 방효태 할아버지의 속도 함께 타들어갔다. 씨 뿌리고 농사 짓는 게 죄가 되버린 세상. 하지만 할아버지는 “논은 자식보다 소중한 것”이라며 논으로 가기 위한 길을 만들기 시작했고, 그 곳엔 평화의 힘을 믿는 마을 주민들과 대추리 지킴이들이 함께 있었다.

"올해에도 농사짓자"라는 대추리의 투쟁 구호는 정확하고 정직했다. 땅을 일구며, 흙 파먹고 사는 늙은 농사꾼들의 투쟁방식 또한 그와 크게 다르지 않았다. 5월 4일 이 후에도 철조망 밖 논에서 농사를 지었던 방효태 할아버지와 정부의 계속되는 탄압에도 끝까지 마을을 지키고자 했던 대추리 사람들...그들의 정확한 몸짓과 정직한 삶을 보여주고 싶었다.

[SYNOPSIS]
On May 4th, 2006 the government sent army and police to demolish the Daechuri village school and string barbed wires around their rice fields, which were eventually destroyed. After this attack, local residents were left to gaze at their demolished school and the barbed wires in despair. That’s when I met Bang, Hyotae, an old man who quietly plowed his land while I was filming people. He said he had to get to the rice field across the fence, but the road was blocked. When harvesting season came again, he started to build his own road to reach his field.
