[SYNOPSIS]
The story is about two people having struggled for over 40 years to remember the Korean forced laborers in Akita, northern Japan. They are Ha Jung-woong, a Korean-Japanese who became a very successful businessman thanks to his outstanding performance in the period of Japan's economic growth, and a non-mainstream Japanese historian, Chattani Juroku who founded a community culture village in Akita.
In fact, Hime Kannon standing at Lake Tazawa in Akita is a statue that was built to console the sacrifice of the Korean forced laborers under the construction of a hydroelectric power plant and a dam. However, that fact was completely concealed for more than 50 years after the construction in 1939. The efforts of the both men to unravel the secrets of the statue of Hime Kannon and to commemorate the victims of forced labor have continued for over 40 years.
The Japanese historian, Chattani Zuroku, has revealed the truth of the statue thoroughly based on historical data, but he is persecuted by the Japanese far-right, being harshly told "Get out and you must die. Go live in Korea!"
[DIRECTOR'S NOTE]
The film centralizes the interviews of the two figures who put endless efforts to unravel the truth of forced labor historically and it supports their arguments over the facts with image/ video data and recorded documentation. In addition, the film plays a role of leading their story by visualizing Chatani's 'folk songs' and Ha Jung-woong's 'paintings' harmoniously as a cinematic image.

[SYNOPSIS]
이 이야기는 일본 북부 아키타 지역의 조선인 강제동원자를 기억하기 위해 40년이 넘는 세월을 고군분투해온 두 사람의 이야기다. 전후 일본의 경제성장과 탁월한 능력으로 사업가로 성공한 재일교포 하정웅, 일본 북부 아키타 지방에서 공동체 문화마을을 일궈온 일본 비주류 사학자 차타니 쥬로쿠. 다자와 호수에 세워진 히메관음상의 비밀을 풀고 조선인 강제징용 희생자를 추모하기 위한 그들의 노력은 80세가 넘은 지금도 계속되고 있다.
[DIRECTOR'S NOTE]
40여년 동안의 일본 북부 아키타 지방 강제징용의 역사적 사실을 밝히고 희생자를 추모하고자 노력해온 두 인물의 인터뷰를 중심에 두고 자료 영상과 기록 문헌을 통해 이들의 주장을 뒷받침한다. 또한 차타니 선생님이 즐겨 부르는 ‘민요’, 하정웅 선생님의 ‘그림’을 조화롭게 영화적 이미지로 표현하여 이야기를 끌어 나가는 역할을 한다.
