[SYNOPSIS]
자폐증이 있는 음악 청년 성호, 엄마는 성호의 재능을 살리기 위해 고군분투하지만 성호의 동생 건기는 다르다. 자신을 뒷전에 두고 성호만 돌보는 엄마가 못마땅하다. 성호를 사이에 두고 엄마와 동생은 갈등을 빚는데, 이들의 운명 앞에 무심히 흐르는 쇼팽의 선율은 어떤 의미일까.

성호는 일명 서번트(Savant), 자폐성 장애가 있지만 음악에 천재적인 재능을 가진 피아니스트/클라리넷 연주자다. 성호의 세계는 철저한 고독의 매트릭스(matrix)다. 구획(district)적 공간 속에 사물은 분절적으로 인식된다. 성호에게 현실세계는 기호의 체계일 뿐이다. 그 체계는 음(sound)이라는 실체와 만날 때에만 현실성을 지닌다. 성호는 음악의 세계에서만 자유롭다. 본능적으로 화성학에 통달했고, 푸가와 대위, 변주를 오갈 수 있다. 하지만 성호는 혼자서는 일상생활을 할 수 없는 자폐성 장애인이다. 자신의 감정표현도, 의사소통도 어려운 상태. 시도때도 없이 괴상한 소리를 내거나 미친 듯이 뛰어다니기 일쑤다.
성호가 그런 상태로 세상에 내던져진 이유를 아무도 설명할 수 없었다. 아버지는 가족을 떠남으로써 답을 대신했고, 어머니는 성호를 음악가로 키우기 위해 그의 그림자가 되는 삶을 택했다. 성호의 동생 건기는 어떤 길도 택할 수 없었다. 건기는 어머니의 사랑을 원하지만, 어머니는 성호 하나만으로도 삶이 희미하다. 성호를 인간답게 키우려는 어머니의 희생 뒤에 건기는 방치되었다. 건기는 ‘아무 생각 없이 엄마 뒤나 쫓아다니면서’ 사는 형과 차라리 바꾸고 싶다. 건기에게 형의 음악은 장애보다 더 큰 재앙이다.
이들의 현재는 ‘엄마의 부재/죽음’이라는 곧 다가올 미래를 준비하는 투쟁이다. 엄마는 늘 ‘성호보다 한 시간만 더 사는 것’이 소원이라 말한다. 성호를 남겨두고 세상을 떠나는 것은 상상할 수 없다. 건기에게 성호를 맡기고 싶어하지만, 건기는 형이 ‘귀찮고 쓸모없다’고 한다. 어머니는 나날이 쇠약해졌고, 건기는 가족의 굴레마저도 거추장스럽다. 그 사이 성호의 음악은 나날이 정교해지고 있다. 이 가족의 불협화음이 언젠가부터 거대한 교향악이 되어가고 있다. 이들은 소리없는 운명에 맞서 싸우고 있다.

[SYNOPSIS]
Seong-ho is a musician with an autistic disorder who has an extraordinary talent in music. But he is trapped in the world of video games and television.
His mother has chosen the life of his shadow to groom him into a professional musician. Her only wish is to ‘Live an hour longer than Seong-ho.’ She would like to leave Seong-ho to his little brother Geon-gi, but he still considers his brother ‘bothersome and useless’.
Two brothers go on a trip to Europe without their mother for the first time. “It’s a practice for when mom isn’t here.” This family’s cacophony is slowly forming a concerto.
[DIRECTOR'S NOTE]
How would you feel if you have to face and deal with someone who refuses to communicate with the world, society and everything else. Imagine if you are destined to be responsible for the life of a person who lives in his own world, isolating himself. If there is any gleam of light and hope in him, and if it is the reason to live, what will their life look like?
Seong-ho is a pianist with autism. Trapped in a world of his own, He can not lead a normal everyday life. However, Sung-Ho has innately perfect pitch known as savant. Once he listened to a music just one time, he can play the music as it is. furthermore, Once he saw a score just one time, he memorized and played it as it is. Sung-ho’s mother committed herself for her son to take advantage of the talent at the cost of herself.
On the other hand, Geon-gi, younger brother of Seong-ho, has always lived in the shadow of his older brother. He also wanted to play the piano well but his talent is too short compared to his disabled brother. He has been deprived of mother`s love from his brother since childhood. So he hates his brother, and feel jealous of his brother`s talent.
Mother wants to share her responsibility and burden with Geonn-gi, but this makes him feel further heartless and starts to have a dream of a life of his own outside of the family.
