[SYNOPSIS]
부모님은 한 달에 두 번 가게에서 사용할 식자재를 구입하기 위해 퇴촌에서 서울집으로 올라오신다. 3년 전 중고자동차를 구입한 후로 나는 부모님과 함께 장을 보러 다니게 되었고, 덕분에 서울에서 퇴촌으로 퇴촌에서 서울로의 반복되어 쌓여가는 여행을 시작하게 되었다.

[DIRECTOR’S NOTE]
3년 전부터 시작된 부모님과의 시장 보기는 계절이 바뀌거나 주변의 상황들이 변화하는 것과는 무관하게 늘 엇비슷한 시간대와 장소를 돌아다니게 만드는 그날만의 일정한 행동양식을 체득하게 해주었는데, 이는 나에게 말로 표현하기 먹먹한 ‘뜬구름 같은’ 기분을 느끼게 해주었다. 동시간대에 마주한 어떠한 사건과 장소, 많은 사연들, 기쁘거나 슬프거나 소멸하거나, 시간은 가차 없이 흘러간다는 것. 하지만 가락시장의 비둘기는 여전히 먹이를 구할 것이며 가게 가는 길목은 변함없이 늘 그 자리에 있을 뿐이라는 사실. 변화하는 것과 변화되지 않는 것 사이의 이질감을 부모와 자식의 관계나 타자와의 이해관계 속에서도 어렴풋하게나마 찾아보게 되는데, 나는 이러한 미묘한 경계선상을 곱씹어가며 작품을 연출해나갔다.

[SYNOPSIS]
My parents travel from Toechon to Seoul twice a month to buy food supplies for their diner. Since I bought a used car three years ago, I have been going to the market with them. Thanks to the car purchase I began this recurring travel from Seoul to Toechon and back to Seoul.

[DIRECTOR’S NOTE]
This grocery shopping with my parents that began three years ago made me master a certain pattern of behavior through the experience of that day, which involved going to a set place at around the same time regardless of the changing seasons or surrounding situations. These travels made me feel something that is indescribable, a deafening sensation like a 'floating cloud.' Some events and places encountered at the same time, and many stories, either happy or sad, will become extinct or pass unrelentingly with time. But then, the pigeons in Garak Market will still seek food, and the road to the diner will always remain there. I vaguely see the difference between what changes and what does not change even in the relationship between parents and a child or in the interest at stake involving others. I produced this piece ruminating on this delicate boundary.
