<동물, 원>은 청주 시립 동물원의 사람들과 그들이 돌보는 동물들에 대한 이야기이다. 동물들은 그들이 자연에서 마땅히 누려야할 공간보다 현저히 작은 공간에서 일생을 보낸다. 하지만 생활공간의 열악하다는 것만 안타까운 것은 아니다. 동물원을 모두 없애야 한다는 주장도 있다. 하지만 동물원이 없으면 대부분의 동물은 갈 곳조차도 없다. 그들의 살 수 있는 곳은 이 땅에서 거의 남아있지 않기 때문이다.

The keepers are kept busy with the animals under their care. These animals, although some may haven’t completely lost their innate instincts, are unlikely to survive if released back to the wild. It’d be difficult for them to live in packs and find food on their own. Ultimately, the zoo may well be the new habitat that they must adapt themselves to live in.

Garden, Zoological is the story of animals and their caregivers at Cheongju Zoo. The zoo animals spend their lifetime confined in a space that is much smaller than their natural habitat. Aside from poor living condition, the animals also face the risk of having nowhere else to go. Some even propose that all zoos must be shut down, but the truth is that there aren’t many places left in this world to sustain their lives.
